Would you marry someone you've never been intimate with?.
If you intend to spend the rest of your life with someone is it important to know if you're sexually compatible?... and how will you know if you...'don't'?
In SITC Charlotte married a man (Trey) that couldn't, wouldn't and therefore .. didn't.
The marriage didn't last. She needed him to love her.
He needed to save face.. and for him, that meant, having a wife.. his mother expected/demanded it! and as a result, he was quite uncaring towards her ( his wife's) desire for ... desire!!
Love is more than just sex. But do you not both have to 'get' each other, know what makes each other tick in all departments.
Maybe the love between two people can be so powerful that you just know you'll be okay in that department.. and therefore... are happy to wait
Wow that is some picture......under some circumstances I suppose you could say love will show the way to all your sexual desires. The reality is things aren't that simple as some of us peak in our sexual pleasures early some later in life.
ReplyDeleteI peaked in my early thirties and feel that i enjoy sex a lot more now and articulate what I want better than I did in my twenties. All the better for me :)
I do feel the subject of sex is important in any given relationship and should be discussed wiith as much intensity as money issues.
What I have to realise is that people just aren't comfortable talking about sex, because they do not know their limits, boundaries and most importantly their bodies properly. You have to love appreciate and explore that God given gift inorder to let someone else enjoy the fruits :)

ReplyDeletemany situations are like this, the arranged marriages, christian abstinence. outside all of that? you "do" for some quality piece of mind. but can love transcend? hmm ... in this case I would be tempted to question the nature of this love? surely you love "within" and not "without"? no?

I think it's important to know everything's working okay, waiting can make it more special/meaningful I guess, and gives both people time to build/strengthen their love - but imagine you commit to someone only to discover later they don't fancy you, or want a sexless relationship.. duped!!
