interesting video. I did pick up on the glaring polarisation when I lived in South Croydon for a short while. Not dissimilar to places like Catford, Bromley, Battersea and I suspect your end. Even at the school level races don't really mix. deliberate? You guess is as good
Wonderful film I think everyone in Croydon is aware that RACISM is alive and breathing....as it is in many other parts of the country.
Surrey Quays and Deptford have their pockets of areas that one may consider more racist than another!!
Is croydon racist???...I think Croydon is culturally aware (love shopping there)that's my take on things and as much as the whole community is trying to change things seems the Police are doing their bit by perhaps creating some division because they have the power to.
A black man/woman will always be judged regardless it's historic and history continues....Britain has become a melting pot over the years and we are struggling to accept the differences but...
I personally think change will come about it has to be a collective JOINT effort thats what am hearing from the film...thats what I have known....united we shall all stand but only if everyone is willing to sign up.
I love the idea of the street athletics great motivational strategy in bringing people together we need mpre things like that!!!!
Who knows my grandkids and great grandkids may also have this debate in the future but if they do lets hope it's out of great FORTUNE acceptance rather than out of adversity!!!!
Charity begins at home and I feel as parents we ought to do more with our children in bridging the divide that already exist.
Hmm , not too dissimilar to Hackney Chrome Depending on how councils implement housing policy I suspect it could either increase the ‘ghettoization’ of communities or ...promote the idea of more diverse/’equal’, communities with fair access to resources.. etc.. not sure how things will pan out.... I know people who have chosen to move out of London, had enough of the stress, glaring inequalities, and urban life... but the ones I (personally)know are black.. although it's been happening on a regular basis over a period of time... (commute in to London to work.. then get back out again)... works well for many
If the stats are true and there are schools with over 80% of the children are BME (in mixed areas) you have to wonder where the other children are being educated... so yes. It may be deliberate in that those who can afford ‘choices’ will use them...
I enjoyed the film too Chilled Leo, it has a nice honesty and innocence about it... I don’t know Croydon that well, but seems like a nice enough place whenever I’ve been there... True....united we stand
