It doesn’t matter
If you don’t have the latest shoes
Or the newest outfit
It doesn’t’ matter if you don’t have a car, or own your own home
It doesn’t matter if you’re not the prettiest, or the most handsome
Matters not what you weigh - or how tall - or short you are
It doesn’t matter that you’re not the most popular,
Doesn’t matter if you are
It doesn’t matter if you’ve never been on holiday
Or if you travel frequently every year
It doesn’t matter if you have the latest phone - note book or kindle
Doesn’t matter if you don’t
It doesn’t matter if you’re the best cook around
Or if you can only cook a few simple dishes
Matters not if you have little money
Matters not if you’ve much

What matters is that you understand what it means to love
That you don’t fear it
That you have felt the pain of disappointment
But you’re not hostage to it
That your intuition is aligned
And your Ego controlled
That you’ve learnt to really laugh
Equally – to cry
That your values mirror who you are
That you are a vessel for goodness
That you have 1 good friend
That you have learnt to be a friend also
That gossips have no evidence
Yet even if – you apologise not - for who you are
That you emit joy
That you never rely on hope or luck
That you’re comfortable with - will – and - is

It matters that you’ve learnt to kiss
And hold hands without expectation
That you have danced at least 1 slow dance
And slept under the stars
It matters that you’ve walked by the sea - a river or a lake
Sat on a bench and fed the ducks stale bread
Helped a pensioner with their shopping
Or given an unrelated child 10p for candy
It matters that you laugh every day
And can still enjoy a children’s cartoon
There’s no finite list
Each to their own
Recognize the beauty in you
Celebrate it…
The beauty in others
Cherish it…
Because it matters…
Because - you - matter...
