A Poetic Interlude!

The Depressed Mind and an alternative Valentine...

You lie in a pitch black room and wait
Motionless - weightless
A heavy heart too heavy a burden to carry
A bloodless wound
Exhausted by every step
Every breath
A bleak and distant land you encounter
A land of dry bones and dust
A land – long neglected by the sun
Just a mirage that appeared
An illusion - that disappeared - just as fast
An uninhabited earth with no sign of life other than your own
The last ship sailed without you
Lost in the dunes the crew searched
To no avail
To them - you are AWOL
Lost even to yourself
You still carry with you an ember of hope
To find yourself once more - to blaze on
Yet time is running out
Your eyes struggle now to bear light
Finding ease in the darkness
The solitude
Respite
As your soul creeps away it reminds you of times gone by
Of people long gone
The joy it once knew
Yet it knows that everything is just for a season
Every action born of reason - of purpose
And the depressed mind
Shall be free - once more
