I've often said that I love my country, I just don't know if my country loves me.
It's interesting to see the faces of the people and to hear the perspectives based on the "hues" of the faces. One day when the realities of demographics change and the pale faces become the minoritiy populations those attitudes will change yet again. Human nature is something indeed.
It brings to mind a line in a poem I wrote once called The Aunt Jemima Syndrome in which I said 'we clean the toilets that we're not qualified to take a shit in.'
