Malcom X

A little boy sits and stares
To be a man
Of great courage
Of knowledge
Self discipline and belief
He wonders if he too could make such sacrifice
Never accept defeat
To stay so cool under intense heat

To be a wanted man
Equally by friend and by foe
Must take great intuition to know
Not fear
But acceptance
Of what will be will truly be
To let thy name go down in history
You knew
You were free

A little boy sits and stares
How I wish I met you
Knew you
Had a chance to talk to you
To play baseball in the park with you
Football after dark with you
Ask you about girls
Of what I should do
Watch you laugh at my youth
If only times were different then
Yet
Because of you my life is what it is
I have a better tomorrow yesterday
Everyday
My freedom came at a cost for some
But your legacy lives on
In me

What Women Want!..Men Want!..A Poem

A woman wants a man who’ll do as he’s told
Without her ever having to tell him
Someone in a crisis to take control
Knowing that she can always trust him
A sweetheart in the restaurant but a tiger in bed
Who can function in the kitchen when you feel to take a rest
Someone who will do anything for you..
But tell me men… ‘a nuh true fi you too?

Clean and smart
But not afraid to get dirty
Emotionally present
Yet not too clingy
A good conservationist
When the need arises
Yet knows when to be silent
And never criticises
Tactile and playful
Who you rush home to
But tell me men… ‘a nuh true fi you too?’

However
Expect every now and then to feel confused
Perplexed over the ‘vibe’ towards you
Expect sometimes a one word answer
To feel like you don’t know just what she’s after
An odd look here
Maybe an ‘eye roll’ there
Don’t panic - don’t fret - just be prepared
For at times like that just smile and say
How beautiful you look today
How smart you are to do what you do
I don’t know where I’d be without you
Come to think of it
There’s not much difference at all
Guys like that too the world over
Funny things we humans yes we are
Men and women so different
Yet so similar
So the moral if there’s one I guess may be
To treat someone as you’d like them treat thee
To make you feel special through and through

So tell me men –…‘a nuh true fi you too?’
