Anthony Hamilton - Live in Nairobi - Best of me
"Y'all better start cooking"..
.."you better get them pots out.. scramble them eggs" :-)
.."you better get them pots out.. scramble them eggs" :-)
What could 'God' say.
1. " I have given you everything you need... to live the life you want.
..so don't you ever, blame me".
2. I have given you everything you need, to live the life you want.
the rest.. is up to you
3. I have given you everything you need, to live the life you want.
If you only paid attention to it
..so don't you ever, blame me".

Self talk.. is not a sign of madness, but a necessary tool for the tool box
There was a time, a few years back when If I was ever upset about something.. the first person I'd call would have been my sister ( elder) or a close friend ( same age). That I haven't done so of late, Indicates (I hope) some kind of personal growth. ( ..yeah..I blog it out instead lol! #cheat)
No seriously. My sister has this thing that she always used to say to me...
and a thing that she does.
My sister will somehow manage to chastise me, yet remind me of who I am. She chastises me over what she considers my talents also, so in short, she has a lot of faith in me, thinks i'm great and loves me, and will have a go If she feels i'm failing to live up to who she considers I am or what I can do.
The thing she says is..
'If you give it time.. you give it power.. stop giving it time Dawna.. stop giving it power..'
She has said it to me so many times, that it lurks in my kranium, and emerges.. I guess when it needs to.
When does it need to?...
Whenever I have failed to honour the wisdom.
If she's ever fed up of hearing about something, or telling me something she'll just sigh.. then say.. 'aren't you tired of this?.'
So this morning' i'm up early again, determined to not allow myself to lose focus, or attempt to climb an oil slicked pole.
If it ain't aint good for me - I don't want it
If i'm not helped by it - I don't want it
If it ain't honest - I don't want it
If it doesn't make me feel good - I don't want it
If it fails to encourage, educate, enthuse, motivate, generate a state of loving-ness, re-affirm my sense of self worth - I don't want it
If it ain't for me - I don't want it
If it's a waste of my time - I don't want it
Universal order
I need to remember that whatever I believe to be.. is what will be
This may seem like a chicken an egg situation, but there's a science at play, that works.
The science, of thought - and action.
But here's the tricky part. I think what I believe to be true. I cant change the thought, without changing the belief.
and I can't pretend. #notthateasy.
It's like racism. (but not.. I'll cover that another time, it's too important not to)
I believe something to be true, as a result of either something I have seen, experienced, or have been informed of.
So how do I change things?.
How do I Intercept the law of cause and effect?.
One way, I think, is to continue to have faith in what has tended to remain a constant...and that is my own sense of self worth.
However, If I feel that I can't rely on any-one outside of my family - that will remain my reality. ( whether it it be true or not)
Here's my science bit..
Whilst that may have been true right up to yesterday - it doesn't have to remain so from this day forward. It could actually change *fingerclick*in an instant.
I could meet someone today, or tomorrow, or any-day, who absolutely believes in me as much as I believe in myself ( or more). A person who supports, encourages, and truly loves me, does not sweep under the carpet the possibility that I could be wrong, but will challenge me with love - yet remain steadfast by my side - even when not in my presence.
The science bit is.. I need to shift that particular thought and belief to;
I know, that I deserve support and love - it's on its way, and one day soon, It will be here.. how could it not?!
.. until such time... I've got this
The irony is;
Anyone like that with me.. I consider like family
So....what I seek today, is;
Joy
Inspiration, love, kindness, fun, humour, wisdom, determination, focus, energy, peace, passion, and patience ( oh.. and someone to go do the shopping.. and perhaps tidy the garden)
I woke up this morning and felt a little blue -
Until I said.. "hey!!.. what's the matter with you.. you've got so much to look forward to, don't allow yourself to be distracted by things that are unimportant in the grand scheme of things. You know what you're doing, you know what you want
So go get it".
Well.. the sun is shining , and it seems to have worked so far.
Good morning all.. and have a great day x

Where to now for Dawna
The past two days have been okay.
The past two days have been awful.
Both statements, are true.
When I came home today, I felt a wave of emotion, I was deeply upset and equally disgusted.
Then I got a phone call, got wrapped up in that, and somehow.. calmed down.
When I sit down to reflect, a few things are clear to me.
What's clear to me ( if no-one else) is that I have a right to live, to be happy, to be treated with respect and kindness just as any other.
What's clear to me is that I cannot abide being treated any less than how I feel I deserve to be treated.( which is Well)
It's actually soul destroying..and I'm not exaggerating.
It saddens me deeply.
But that leads me to this point
any breach in the above expected standard renders me the right to respond accordingly.
I have a right to feel upset, feel anger, protect my self or my family, and the right to say no..
I am long past expecting anyone outside of my family, to stand by my side in support of me. Believe me..that ship sailed long ago.

In fact. [thankfully I'm not in court] I don't need it.
I will defend myself until I take my last breath.
In truth.. I hate cowards. ( and I'm not talking about the Liberal.. 'err, when is a coup not a coup.. who's Vince again' Democrats)
Yes, this evening (like my darling Vince) I'm a little conflicted.
Where to now for Dawna.
Do you know..that if you hurt me, I will struggle to forgive you?. I find it difficult to believe that anyone willing to willfully cause pain, can be sincere in any latter apology.
But I do forgive.. at least I try to
At least I thought I did.
Now, I'm beginning to wonder if what really happens is that I become distracted, and simply forget
..Forgetting, is not forgiving.
I have struggled in the past because I care. and In truth I need to learn or re-learn, how to care less.
.
Well..Perhaps.
Do I really want to be that person?
No.
I know that forgiveness is much talked about,it's a popular term. it implies it's bearers possess maturity, class, a higher spiritual nature.. dignity, but.. what does it mean exactly?.. and why do we rarely equate forgiveness.. with honesty?.
Perhaps a more realistic statement would be.. 'I have little choice but to let it go this time.. until the next.. or.. It's very difficult.. I want to.. but ( I seek not canonization ) it may take time'
That being said, I'm also aware that I can't go through my life being disappointed with people.
I need to remember that people will protect themselves, friends or family first and foremost no matter what.
We all have an Agenda, be it honourable , or dis-honourable.
So what of love?
Apparently you can't forgive without it.
I don't know if that's true

I'm not sure I have that in me right now Maya.
My mother has always been a person to turn the other cheek... my father was less so
In fact no. he was the opposite.
I reside somewhere between the two.
I hate bullshit.
Ironically, on the crappiest day of the year so far, I have some kind of date looming.
After chatting to Sierra Leone a few times, we are due to meet up, to talk some more.
I get along well with men born in September. Virgos and Libras, so.. one part of me is looking forward to it.
He comes across as enough calm for my fire right now.. which is nice. A Virgo guy. i'll see.
I guess it's the upside of what was.. in parts anyway.. a bit of a low day.
Nevertheless.. the fact that I can talk about it (abit), must mean I'm starting to feel better.
Sadness often renders me speechless.
So...
If we're lucky Maya.. we grow up
If we're lucky, we become the people we were born to become
If we're brave enough.. like you were, we try to stay true to who we are
In the knowledge that we don't need everyone to love us.. but we truly need to love
and despite our folly, somehow.. we tend to recieve more, than we may even deserve

Thoughts on a Tuesday
Sometimes I fall asleep mid read.. then wake.. read.. sleep.. wake.. read.. sleep.. read.. bite my nails.. read.. dance.. read.. sleep.. listen to music.. cook.. clean.. wash.. read.. sleep .. watch something.. write.. read.. sleep
I'm trying to not focus on feeling tired.. so I say.. "i'm not tired .. i'm not tired.."
That way I call on the universe for the energy I need ( that's the hope anyway)
In my head, I list things that I need to do. Things I need to get out of the way in order to do what I need and want to do
I try not too get irritated or anything.. it is what it is
I saw this.. and yes... I can relate.. although i'm not blowing balloons or anything.. :)
I wonder sometimes what it would be like to work for the U.N. what would my role be
Yes, I daydream a lot.
..in fact, now more so than ever.
I also wonder sometimes what it would be like to have Cornel on speed dial
He does make me laugh, and he has great way with words
Fortunately we have Youtube
This interview is very 'intrusive'.. more so than I expected it to be..
.. it's an old one but I'm grateful for his openess
Staying awake is a challenge tonight...

Good morning Mr Clegg, good morning Mr Cameron,
Fret not
and Good morning all..
For awhile Black Uhuru was one of the coolest Reggae bands around. I saw them only once at Reggae Sunssplash UK.
I woke up, and as I had breakfast, was watching the aftermath of yesterday's EU elections, and this tune came to mind.
Michael Rose I've seen perform solo a few times. I remember him being very tall and very striking on stage. Sexy , cute and serious.
This video is a great trek down memory lane - check out Sly and Robbie!
I felt a little sorry for Nick Clegg yesterday, so much so that I felt a bit bad about having called Ed wet :)
Maybe it's my imagination, but Nick took ages to appear for the media, and looked to me like he'd been crying.
...how could that not make anyone feel compassionate
I liked the fact that he came out fighting. I respect him for that. showed some backbone in the face of his party's utter humiliation
Good for him
What we need?
Solidarity
oh.. and some compassion.. see Nick.. see David.. that's what that feeling is..
*Good news about the Nigerian schoolgirls so far. Let's hope they get them home safe ly soon
*What's going on with Ukraine?

Xenophobia & the E.U
*Oxford English Dictionary definition*
Xenophobia - 'an intense or irrational dislike or fear of people from other countries'
You could add... a fear or dislike of people who are different to one-self
How ironic!. How interesting!. [click]
The European Union - now increasingly dominated by Euro sceptics and anti EU MEPs
Is this a joke?!
So with this seemingly lack of faith in the EU... can it last? or is it about to implode?
Seriously ..It’s like having a grass lawn, with a soil allergy!
With the National Front doing very well for France in the European Elections, and other Far right groups across Europe also gaining seats, is it time to admit that people take what they consider to be their 'Identity' very seriously?.
..That immigration, may actually make some people feel insecure if they sense a loss of their Identity?.. thier 'being-ness'?... thier nationhood?
So…is nationalism now openly on the political agenda?
Cool, It's a topic I find interesting
What's confusing is this.
Who do 'Europeans', want to keep out of their European countries. Exactly which Europeans are causing Europe discomfort?;)
You just can't get wholegrain without the grain people
As Marvin said.. 'What's going on?'
I met a guy last week on one of my walkabouts.
He was a black African born guy.
In short, he was upset because according to him, despite his qualifications, he couldn't get a job because UK employers preferred to hire 'white' Europeans. He said the EU was racist.
Another (also black) guy last week complained to me that whenever a potential client (he runs his own business) hears his voice, he can sense the disappointment as they quickly excuse themselves from doing business with an African sounding man. Said he needs someone who sounds English to make and answer phone calls..
Now Europe..
Has a problem with racism...
and is clearly, increasingly xenophobic. ( but yes, I'm aware..this is not new)
Black people, for example, still, have to deal with overt racism across many of the European countries that I’m familiar with. Here in the UK, ironically,it's not so bad. It exists, but somehow I feel, we're ahead of the game by a nose, if the feedback I receive is true.
So, EU member States are anti-Immigration?.
Here, non EU countries (predominantly the countries where many black and brown people hail from) are subject to tough (er) immigration laws. There is no cap for EU migrants. (That’s part of the UKIP argument).
UKIPs other 'credible' argument is that the majority of UK laws are not made in the UK but and are 'handed down' by the EU parliament, the result being that EU member states lose thier ability to fully govern their own countries.
The suggestion being that what we actually have... is a government by proxy.
In truth, I understand the European Union... I do, in theory anyway... just as I understand the African Union.
I'm not European, I don’t really see myself as a European... and by the looks of things neither do ‘they’
But, as if to complicate things further I am British.. and very much so to be honest
But again... I sense the political classes, will need to re-define, or better yet 'make peace' with what 'being British' actually means, in this New World Order.
Whichever party does that well.. may just win the 2015 election.. or at least come very close
So.. was it Norman Tebbit (former Conservative MP) that came up with the cricket match test back in the day? [click]
Okay..well.. let’s play the World Cup test.
Personally, I always support England at the World Cup...Olympics etc.
So for the World Cup in Brazil.. I will be supporting England.
Now...after their two games ( lol!) I’ll switch to Nigeria, then Ghana maybe.
If they get knocked out.. I'll support whichever African country is still in, yes, they will get my vote.
If Germany are in the final against another European country I’ll support the Germans!? (don't ask) well..maybe .. not quite sure yet.
It may simply come down to whichever team has a cute footballer I like in the end. Yes, I'm technical like that.
So, I wonder what Mr Tebbit would say about that?.
...Is this black African Caribbean British girl loyal enough :)
You bet cha

I also wanted to add that perhaps.. before any of us get carried away with ideas of who we think we are.. or overly nationalistic tendencies.. we may want to stop and check out.. the contents of our shopping baskets.. the contents of our wardrobes.. and in some cases... our beds.. then assess the situation again

THE EUROPEAN UINION
Why was it set up?
For Peace.
The EU was set up to secure and protect the interests of Europe and Europeans in Europe.
Beginning with creating long term allies and securing a commitment to peace.
1945 - 1959 - A peaceful Europe – the beginnings of cooperation
The European Union was set up with the aim of ending the frequent and bloody wars between neighbours, which culminated in the Second World War. As of 1950, the European Coal and Steel Community begin to unite European countries economically and politically in order to secure lasting peace. The six founders are Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg and the Netherlands. The 1950s are dominated by a cold war between east and west. Protests in Hungary against the Communist regime are put down by Soviet tanks in 1956; while the following year, 1957, the Soviet Union takes the lead in the space race, when it launches the first man-made space satellite, Sputnik 1. Also in 1957, the Treaty of Rome creates the European Economic Community (EEC), or ‘Common Market’.
Trade
In the 1960's EU countries stop charging custom duties when they trade with each other. They also agree joint control over food production, so that everybody now has enough to eat - and soon there is even surplus agricultural produce.
In 1970 - 79
Denmark, Ireland and the United Kingdom join the European Union on 1 January 1973, raising the number of member states to nine.
The EU regional policy starts to transfer huge sums to create jobs and infrastructure in poorer areas. The European Parliament increases its influence in EU affairs and in 1979 all citizens can, for the first time, elect their members directly.
1990 - 1999
With the collapse of communism across central and Eastern Europe, Europeans become closer neighbours. In 1993 the Single Market is completed with the 'four freedoms' of: movement of goods, services, people and money. The 1990s is also the decade of two treaties, the ‘Maastricht’ Treaty on European Union in 1993 and the Treaty of Amsterdam in 1999. People are concerned about how to protect the environment and also how Europeans can act together when it comes to security and defence matters. In 1995 the EU gains three more new members, Austria, Finland and Sweden. A small village in Luxembourg gives its name to the ‘Schengen’ agreements that gradually allow people to travel without having their passports checked at the borders. Millions of young people study in other countries with EU support. Communication is made easier as more and more people start using mobile phones and the internet.

His music is so good I shall post a spot light just on him:)

I would like a translation with this one.. possibly because I've had it on replay many many times.. :)
My translation.. 'It's none of your business who I go out with... so mind your own' lol

Weekend WOW Factor - ft Party Political Swap-sy's..
Some fractions are calling for Nick Clegg to step down as Liberal Democrat party leader. They are unhappy with him.
Labour's current leader, is also under the 'should he stay' spotlight
The Labour party could use a new leader.
Don't get me wrong. Ed Miliband seems like a really nice guy. I'm sure his heart's in the right place. He's good.. smart. But he's Wet, very Wet, ( can he make a fist and shake it in the air please??) and appears to struggle a bit to come across to the public as authentic.. E.M lacks bite... is just way too soft, and he hasn't really managed to gather party momentum.
Labour need to make it clear to people, how life will improve under their leadership. Many people who vote Labour, do so out of loyalty, or because they'd rather jam a fork in their leg than vote Conservative or the other guys.
They can't be a party that stifles ambition.. which is what some people think they will do. People want stuff. (and aren't keen on sharing) (Sorry Conservative supporters)
Big generalization I know, but people want to work , earn thier money, and spend it as they see fit. I know I do.
Progressive Socialism.. sounds about right. Or.. Ethical Capitalism.
It's true.. trust me.. (although I'm not yet a doctor)
The Lib-dems were ideally placed to claim the 'center spot' but messed up.
UKIP have managed to steal the attention that they once had.
Interestingly, comments I've read about UKIP range from - 'Nigel Farage (Leader) is very down to earth...says what we all think' to.. 'UKIP are a racist party with no policies..'
For the record.. for some reason, UKIP fail to strike me as any more racist than the other two main party's. Both Labour and the Conservative party have an embarrassing racist history with regards to immigration, and even now, the immigration policy is racist.
.. well... with the world cup around the corner.. all parties will be celebrating some good ole English nationalism before long that's for sure.
That being said, I discovered this week that life is the UK for a EU migrant/immigrant is actually quite difficult. the 'entitlements don't come rolling in at all, and they do not get access to equal benefits or housing It's actually really tough.
Perhaps we could have, and what we need, is some kind of party political Swap-sy ( or Swap-ski ) if you're Nigel Farage.. see what I did there? .
I can honestly say that I really do like and admire.. Vince Cable. Can we have him please?
Please don't let me down now that I've said that Vince :)
What is the likely-hood of Vince ditching the Lib-dems and joining the Labour Party?
Possibly slim.
But without a doubt. He is thier ace card.
Oh yeah right Swap-sy... well..they can have Ed

If Elliot Rodger was a visible Mulsim, or had posted a video about 'Islam and the West', would he have been picked up long ago?
Elliot Rodger
America's gun laws never cease to amaze me.
How many more internal shootings by civilians of civilians will it take before there are significant changes?. Apparently, Elliot was known to police because of a previous video, in which he threatened to do what he did. Yet he was able to do it.
It took 9/11 to place America under high alert with regards to terrorism. Here in UK too. Islamophobia is at an all time high. Yet America has seen quite a few of these internal incidents of late, and still... nothing.
..in fact.. correct me if i'm wrong, but America has had more internal 'home grown' shootings than terrorist attacks.
Got to feel it for all involved. A horrible thing

It looks like a prison, but it's not. Exactly.
Anyway, in case you missed it. There are allegations that some wardens are taking advantage of some of these vulnerable women sexually... and otherwise. Some women, it's claimed, may be trading sex for simple things that they are entitled to anyway.
It's a difficult one.
When I first heard about it I was a little outraged... yet as time has passed a part of me is less surprised.. and thinks.. what did they expect.
It needs sorting that's for sure
On a side note.. I was rooting for Althetico..
Wow.. minutes away from winning.

An expression of - extension of - connection to -
This is a promo for the film 'Beauty is' which premiered at the BFI a few weeks ago. I look forward to seeing it in full.
This promo focuses on hair, but as we know beauty is so much more... for sure
In fact, I often struggle to define what beauty is.
I sometimes think beauty is a verb... best seen in action. For me, I know it when I feel it. It’s something that moves me in some way, a pleasant feeling which is often hard to pin down.
Ascetically, we all like different things. However, what we think we like, our beliefs.. have often been programmed, conditioned, manipulated, to the extent that what we think are 'our own' choices… may not really be ‘our own' at all.
So how can you tell the difference? You I question yourself myself… challenge your my beliefs, get to know yourself myself, but often, it's quite difficult to tell. In truth… you I.. may never really know.
Some habits are hard to break. We learn to accept our quirks that please us… and work on those that appeal to us least.
In short… we learn, un-learn, then learn again, we mature, and we grow.
I’ve always had long hair… as far back as I can remember, but it’s not something I ever really paid that much attention to. . like skin colour.. or body mass ( you don’t as a child do you?). As a youngster my hair was quite straight ish to be honest, so afros really didn’t work too well on me ( the wind would just blow it all over.. ( my only gripe), so my favourite style was long thin plaits, and the occasional colourful beads.
Despite being content with my hair,( certainly more so than I am am now) I had it relaxed as a teenager once. I wanted to look more grown up... and at the time, all the women ‘out there’ had a certain look.
I remember a friend of mine was really upset that I had it done.
To be honest, I missed my natural hair. ( plus my friend had sparked a social conscience in me on a personal level - as I previously thought I was immune!) So It grew out pretty quickly and I was back to me again.
I locks’ ed my hair at 15. ( much to my parents despair ) and I’ve had locks ever since.
I remember once, some guy saying to me ( when I was in my teens) ‘wow.. you’d be really pretty if you didn’t have locks!’.
In truth… he was a dick. (excuse my Saturday German) He used to live around the corner from me growing up, and never let anyone ride his new bike so nil pois!, to him. 'Arse' :).
But I suspected ( at the time) that outside of rasta’s .. or the ‘dreads’, lots of men may have had that opinion. Unless, they were conscious guys.
I remember when I lock'ed my hair, it really wasn’t the thing to do (especially for girls) and if I’m honest I liked it even more because of that.. We were entering a time of lovers rock, sweet boys, mediocrity, and a strengthening desire to assimilate ( into what I’m not sure). We had the seeds of a UK black bourgeois emerging, which sat (somewhat oddly) in opposition to political black cultural expression. It was a mixed bag.
You had a roots reggae movement of social consciousness, and on the other side you had a range of lovers rock expressionists.
Locks in the 1970s right up until the 1990’s tended to be an expression of - an extension of - and a connection to -
The 1990’s saw the emergence of dancehall culture, fueled in part by a changing global political landscape across the Caribbean and Africa
In the noughties, locks began to emerge again, but this time re-branded as ‘ lox’ of the hairdresser variety, washed of its history, re-branded, and subtly renamed.
It's probably worth mentioning at this point that locks were also worn across the globe, meanings may vary, but in addition to the 1930s Jamaican Rastafarian movement, the 'Mau mau' in Kenya often wore locks, in addition to the Hindu Sadhu's or holymen
Rastaman in Jamaica
Sadhu holymen and women
Mau Mau
Dedan Kimathi Waciuri
Hair styles, fashion, music, even our body shapes, tell us a story, of the history of a people
Which leads me to my question. Is there a perception that a African Caribbean woman with natural hair is making a political statement?. Is she seen as an outcast? rebellious soul, black power enthusiast?
It’s interesting.
It’s interesting because I remember reading in a blog post somewhere, that a black woman is the only woman who can go to work with her natural hair, and be told it’s ‘unprofessional’( or it be viewed as unfinished - vis a vis .. unskilled.
I would say that if there is truth in that, it may simply depend on the industry one works in, but even that, is unacceptable.,, no?
I've said this before, but I suspect it's is the fear of that perception that could explain why many black woman wear European/Indian wigs and weaves. (not just for style, and not just for hair loss) After all, we need to work, want to get on, to progress, not be held back by peoples biases’ and prejudices, it's quick and easy, so ..sacrifices are made.
That one of those sacrifices is hiding, or masking African textured hair.. is evidence of the racism that still permeates our society. Even if it is..ever so subtle.
That said. It could change in an instant.
( well.. in an ideal world perhaps)
But.. and here’s the thing. African textured hair’ is so diverse. There is no one type. Just like our complexion, the hue of our skin… there are great variations. Some of us have long hair some short, some thick some thin. it is what it is, and the same is true of us all. Some people are very pink, with a blueish tint.
Beauty is what it is.
Yet we struggle with it
But even if we're unsure.. I suspect we can recognize what it feels like, if it's ever absent
I try.. I'll make an effort.. but I don't always get it right lol!!
Love me? , love my imperfections, my failings, and my faults as well.. pretty or not pretty
as for me...Love , like beauty.. is best seen in action

Oyoyo
Sry I haven't even had time to catch up on your posts but I will do soon.. I miss y'all
It's all go at the moment so again I'm just popping in for now.. short and sweet. I had hoped for an ease tonight but another student has requested a book that i'm using so I have to take down all I need from that tonight ready for tomorrow, so the best thing for me to do is to put on something nice in the background, and get on with it
It's okay, It's cool..for everything there is a season
I'm reminded of Ecclesiastes 3
To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;
A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;
A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;
A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.
To be honest ..I've never given the verse much thought, but it's right up there with 'nothing ever happens before the time.. and so on..
My mums favourite has always been.. 'get up early and do what you have to do..'
Yet she perhaps forgot to mention that in fact.. there's always something to do :)
Anyway.. I'll be popping over to yours soon enough.. hope you're all fine and having a great week so far x
Now, I looked it up and apparently Oyoyo means one is to have patience.. or it may mean someone who is dear to you
Others claim it's a welcome, and some say good times. Yes, It's amazing how one word can mean so many different things.
So unless I'm told otherwise.. it's Oyoyo Tuesday
Welcome Tuesday, I've been patient today, as you were dear to me
now .. roll on Wednesday.. roll on good times
Oh yeah.. it turns out that the security Man U guy from the Arsenal parade isn't from Senegal at all. but that other place that I also like - Sierra Leone.. remember? [click]
Anyway.. better get on with it..
Night night

Arsenal's victory parade.. a day in the sun
Such a beautiful day, and I had one of the best mornings ever that I've had in a long time. Sunny days don't get much better than this.. and all roads led to Highbury Corner this morning..
My boys laughed at me saying oh mum.. bet you can't name all the players..
Don't care, I explained that club loyalty extends beyond the players.. ( although I like Sagna )
I've never been to a victory parade before.. I was so excited, so happy I could barely contain myself
I'm really proud of the team.. who knew I was so passionate about stuff:)
I bumped into quite a few people I know among the crowds which was nice, and as the helicopters got closer... we knew it wouldn't be long to wait before...
FA Cup Winners..
The blurred effect was because I couldn't keep still.. lol
Met a Man U fan from Sierra Leone.. don't worry .. he wasn't a saboteur.. he was working security. 'Must be torture for you today.. '
he laughed
hmm. he was kinda cool.. cute..I'll see
I didn't see Arsene Wenger or the cup but It's okay
It was perfect
One of these days I'll pluck up the courage to go to a match
Arsenal rock!

Praiz - I love you.. & .. On hiatus
It's true, I do..
It's also true that I didn't expect him to sound like this
Further proof that you should never judge a book by its cover
Very nice
Now.. posting over the next few weeks will be a bit sporadic.
I'll be on hiatus for a week or two.. so the occasional song may pop up, but my witty banter will be absent (Yeah I said it.. witty banter!)
I also need to boost up the physical, iron, greens, and get some rest when I can.. I've been burning the candle abit, and woke up feeling unwell
The 1st thing the doctor asked me was.. 'are you pregnant?
Woman can't feel unwell without it being nooky related I tell you :)
'Nope.. .. not pregnant.. but thanks for thinking I could be.. '
'In fact, test me anyway.. just in case i've had some and forgot!)
I wasn't sure what song to post.. but I was really feeling this. Cool n easy
No hype, and no stress
That's me right now.. and it's a good place to be..
Have a lovely weekend as always x

The Labour Party politcal broacast is..
Quite funny
I had an afternoon nap too today.. it was well needed I tell you..and I thoroughly recommend them
Political satire can be funny..
..'Yeah the Tory party.. Margaret Thatcher..'
Wonder what the rest will come up with..
..'You can't win me over with biscuits..!
'Chokky bikky?..'
'Oh okay..'
Some people say that career politicians have ruined politics..
I don't think that's what turns people off necessarily
I think it's that 'the truth'.. is like a pearl in a maze..

Men in Uniform
Its been said, that women love a man in uniform
I've often wondered why that is.
It's also said that women love a man in a suit.. which I think is the same thing really. As a suit.. is a uniform ( office style suits anyway)
In truth we all wear a uniform, and often , our clothes say more about us, than we'd like to admit. They may say .. 'actually.. I don't care about clothes much', or they may say .. 'actually..I do'..clothes can say lots of things.
Would anyone ever really watch this sport if it wasn't for this particular 'uniform'
Sometimes, I don't like wearing clothes, well.. not too much anyway. I like to feel the warmth on my skin, air, and clothes can feel quite restrictive at times.
Yet that being said, I do love clothes. I love nice things.(.. but then who doesn't)
I don't have a 'just gotta have it mentality' about them.. no.. I can just as easily walk on by.. but .. I like them.
So why do women love a man in uniform?, and does it matter which uniform?
Oh yes..I think so.
I think Firemen are popular because they're heroic, they save lives. They rescue kittens from trees, and all that.
With Soliders, it's less clear cut. Whilst they tend look cool in combats or camouflage... (I remember on the train once, some solider's got on...in camo.. and red berets, and it was really hard not to stare) in truth..thier business is War. The mind tends to wander, as you still see the humanity in them.. these cool looking guys who are trained to kill. Now on a London train, with no war in sight - it may seem cool.. sexy even, in a war zone..??? hmmm.. slightly different perspective.. pretty much attack or defense Solider-boy all the way.
Prison Officers are lower down on the scale I think, much lower, they..and... police officers, Perhaps.
Again.. all in context.
For many, and especially depending on the circumstance..Police officers would be number 1. ( theoretically speaking anyway)
I think it would be difficult to date a police officer. I've known a few women who were either married to, or dating a police officer, and jolly happy they were too. I can't help but wonder if he'd secretly bug me or something... snoop around in my drawers. I mean.. how much of what you do and say together would remain private. ( which in truth, is the same for each on the list.. I wouldn't want some guy checking my phone when i'm asleep, or emails.. heaven forbid..oh yes.. trust is a must)
..and that would not be very chivalrous behaviour now .. would it...!
I admire paramedics. They're amazing people and look great in thier uniforms that's for sure, male and female. ( kinda Army green)
A suit is designed to make a man look decent. Look like a great man, a greater man, greater than he may even actually be. Taller, smarter.. ( sounds like the intro of the 6 million dollar man!) Just like a bra can lift our boobs, a good belt tighten our waist, and high heels make us look taller... all's fair an all that
We have the technology...
So why do woman love a man in Uniform..? ( If we actually do and it's not just an urban myth)
I think it has something to do with power, or safety or something
that...and they're sexy
So do I?
Simply put.. 'not if he's an arsehole'.

Nigeria's house
It is reported that Britain and America are to assist in locating Nigeria's kidnapped girls.
A wonderful thing you may say.
Or is simply a strategic political move, and if so, have Boka Haram handed even more power over to those they call 'the West?'
I do think we need a new definition of the West. it's really not what it once was.
.. know what I mean?..
Ironically perhaps, Nigeria's economy is on the up.
Nigeria has declared itself the biggest economy in Africa, and has added 89% to its GDP, now worth $510 billion, soaring past the previous leader, South Africa, worth $370 billion. [click]
'Nollywood' Nigeria's film industry is being cited as having a huge impact on the increase in Nigeria's economy.
Nollywood, being Nigeria's 'Hollywood', or Bollywood'
It's said that the industry generates employment for about one million people, making it the second largest employer in Nigeria with annual sales estimated at $250–350 million. for more info [click]
Reported at 590 million in other sources
Perhaps I'll locate a Nollywood film that I like and post
My guess is that the UK and US's involement has lees to do with Nollywood, and more about 'Oilywood.. and political positioning'
Nigeria's Oil rich and has been prone to corruption [click]
But this is a serious incident, and help is now required..
Plus there are too many Nigerian's and Muslims across the Diaspora, for us to turn a blind eye. the situation affects us all, directly of indirectly.
So what's going on Nigeria?
..this incident has placed the spotlight on your house
Records sales were an estimated 50 million US dollars in 2010, and revenue from an estimated 1200 concerts and music shows held in Nigeria accounted for a combined annual turnover of 105.5 million US.
This sounds great, so why with Nigeria doing so well creatively, and economically, do 70% of its inhabitants still live below that relative poverty line, and why do antagonisms run so deep.
Where do the group Boko Haram come from, and why have they resorted to these terrible tactics.
But that , is a question for Nigeria I guess
Perhaps, I've been unfair on some of these post-colonial African counties. Although clearly they have not been able to shake off those shackles, perhaps it's too early to expect them to be able to do so. Perhaps hope and change will lay with younger generations.
What's clear is.. if Nigeria don't get thier house in order, if they fail to deal with the corruption that resides in amidst the ranks of government right through to market places, if the distribution of wealth and opportunities fails to improve, someone else, may just step in and do it for them
I'll leave out the 'Goodluck Jonathan' pun.. it's too easy.
