The rise and rise of women in Politics

I read an article ( partially ) about what appears to be a growing trend of women leaders having to clear up the mess made by men :) It's funny because I'd never looked at it from the angle before

It's like the old saying goes.. if you want something done fast call a man.. want it done well...?
well... you know the rest..
heehee.. I jest...I just made that one up
Am just playing wid y'all.. guys are great

Interesting read though... [click]

Lutan Fyah - All For You

Nobody's perfect..not even Blair. music by Yemi Alade - Africa ft. Sauti Sol - Africa

Conflicted.
The news headlines on the Chilcot report presented a damning indictment of Britain's involvement in the Iraq war.
It does not 'favour' our ex pm, Tony Blair ..
It is stated that the decision to go to war was not 'a last resort'
However,I wont be reading it.
Apparently, it's approximately 2.6 million words long, amassing 12 volumes.
In the hands of a creatively lazy writer reports can be boring.
Yet to be fair most reports tend to focus on dry facts. I guess that's just the way it is.
Maybe i'm jumping the gun... maybe it will make an excellent read)

For anyone willing to buy a copy it will cost you over £700.
Feel free, but remember...that's a plane ticket.

Conflicted because despite my constant questions over the impact of Blair's African Governance Initiative, I quite like him.
He remains.. my favourite Tory ahem.. sorry...Labour leader lol.

If the AGI has has indeed had a positive impact.. then god help us all. Reason being?
...the continent ( or at least many of the countries where the AGI operate) remain in a dire state of affairs, so can you imagine if they were not there?... holy shit.. )
which brings me to my point.

Labour, is worse off without Blair.
Gordon Brown wasn't given a chance. ( we can be a little shallow)

Love him or hate him, 'New Labour' was an election winning masterstroke, and the party has dulled significantly since his ( and many others) departure.
Where are the characters?
The big thinkers?
Bold speakers?
Perhaps they are still around.. just not in the spotlight.

Iraq may be worse off after the war ( which country isn't?)
Islamic extremism has certainly increased across the globe, and innocent women and men living in conflict zones tend to live with constant fear.. and a genuine hope and desire for peace.
But... what if the war hadn't occurred?
Are we fooling ourselves into thinking that everything would be hunky dory had it not been for the war?...
Better yes..perhaps.. but no paradise
Not for women anyway.. and not for children..
Not if your're of a darker hue
Or you worship the 'wrong god'
So, whether it's women's or children's rights, a fight to end human trafficking and or slavery... the 'truth' is, there will always be something to fight for
If... we choose to fight.

The question I guess is.. is war, ever really the answer?
..and are some things worth fighting for more than others.....

A week is a long time in politics they say.
Well...It's taken 7 years and 10 million English pounds (allegedly) to write the report.
That's patience.

This week will mark the anniversary of my bro.
July 8th.
It's a been a long arse year, with many revelations, highs and lows...a real mixed bag.
A year on, and I finally got around to registering him ( a few weeks ago) and finally got around to sorting the car, so it's good to drive

This time last year I was unsure whether to still travel or not
This time last year
So.. I guess I'll be busy. I'm always ready to travel to be honest, more so these days than ever before
but I have a few things to do, for myself and for others right here in London.
It's all good.
Cheers.

Oh gosh.. I've just watched Portugal score two goals within minutes of the 2nd half. Yikes!

I like his style

I-Octane - Try Again

Amazing match last night.
Well done France.
Iceland did well to get 2 in as one can only imagine how defeating it must be to be outplayed and outclassed like that.
Goal after goal, but.. they kept trying
For sure

Beasts of No Nation

I finally got around to watching Beasts of No Nation
Thought I'd treat myself to a movie afternoon.

I must admit I've never actually never seen Idris Elba act before, but boy can he act.
The film itself was excellent. An amazingly thoughtful script, I wasn't expecting it.
The story itself based around the war in Sierra Leone and Liberia, and the use of child soldiers.
It was an easy watch ( at first) yet a very uneasy watch as time progressed, in fact from start to finish I was totally immersed in the film.
Wonderful actors
The logistics of bringing the film together is a massive achievement

The film really brings to life just what people are capable of under bizarre circumstances. The horror of civil war. A real power struggle.
Pertinent, as this is recent history, and in fact, the current way of life right now for many young boys and girls.

Made me cry about hmmm 3 times. ( but shh, don't tell anyone)
I'll watch it again actually, it was that good, and really makes you appreciate even more the work being done to rescue and rehabilitate child soldiers.

Iyanya - Heart Beat

Muno ft. Rudeboy - Slow Slow

This is one of the best 'African ' produced 'one drop' reggae tunes I've heard
More often than not, 'African reggae' has been a 'miss'.. but this.. no..this is a 'hit'

It's very sweet, nice one

What I'd like to know is... will P Square ever re-unite musically (hope so :)

Cynthia Morgan - Olowo

Bad gyal tune.. braap.. love it

There can be no trust without loyalty..

.. and no genuine loyalty without Trust
I watched with interest the Michael Gove interview with Andrew Marr.

Michael Gove stated that in four days he realized that Boris Johnson was not the man to run the country. (This is after knowing him for 30 odd years, and considering himself a friend)
Many people understand that in politics, there is very little that will stand in the way of ruthless ambition.
( That my dear is true in all of life)

Politics aside I believe that Trust, perhaps even more than love, is the most powerful force we as people possess.
If people can't trust their governments, there is War
Civil wars, genocides, and coups, fighting, crime, theft, abuse, yes... a lack of trust truly plays host to many negatives

For many, the betrayal of a friend cuts very deep, so much so that the friendship is rarely (if ever) the same again, as questions will invariably emerge as to the genuine nature of that friendship to begin with

Trust for me, is a crucial element of any civilized society, a society without trust cannot grow.

Question, based on something that was said by Michael Gove today..

If there is an 'undeserving rich'.. does that then mean that there is a deserving poor?

Weekend WOW Factor: Marcia Griffiths - Holding You Close

DJ Big N ft. Dr. Sid and Wizkid - Erima

I've posted this before, but not the visuals

Standard video with regards to..well you know, but I just love the flow of the track.
The visuals suit the track though..hmmm, cant really think how else to storyboard it ( I would have gone for dancers I think day and night-time, rooftop, outdoor location based)
Anyway.. some of y'all gonna really like the vid stereotypical or not
My gift to you today then x
Run di track..

When you don't feel like writing, write anyway

I sat down to read, and not necessarily write.
Yet laptop on lap here I am.
Someday's the words flow less freely and eloquently than others, this, is one of those days.
So.. suffice to say, this post is just an opportunity to flex my desire to write on, regardless.
I have nothing pressing to offer this lovely Saturday, I'm just sitting after collecting my clothes from the launderette, allowing my hair to dry naturally with one eye on 'come dine', and my ears totally immersed in beautiful music.

It's nice to have a little time alone to think

I stepped outside leggings and vest, make up free and dripping wet hair and a woman stopped me to tell me how beautiful I was . Took me totally by surprise, not only for her to go out of her way to tell me that, but that she'd apparently been watching me 'forever' ( her words not mine. Shes not gay or anything.. before you ask.

I thanked her slightly bemused and wondering what she was seeing and stepped into my favorite launderette.
I asked the owner how he was, and his reply was as it has been for years. 'cant complain'
I told him that's what he always said , and he then proceeded to offer me some of the most profound words I've heard in awhile.

Between the lady and that man my mood shifted to one of gratitude.
I came away convinced they were placed in my path today for a reason.. and for that i'm grateful

You see.... on reflection I must admit it has been a tough few weeks.. no scrap that..year.

Highs and lows.. but that's life.
I'm grateful for those who love me.
As we all are
It's easy to forget sometimes, when faced with hurdles roadblocks or difficulty.
Platitudes to uplift or inspire can sometimes feel base and pointless, yet they can and often do, help
Some of the most amazing people I know.. have faced tough times and continue to smile

So.. I'll take their lead on that.
Hey... I quite enjoyed writing that...who knew
