What If..

What If...
The worlds inhabitants never caused harm to another – never by intent – or accident
Time was never an issue – or money a concern
Love was never a desire or necessity
Fools rushed in and angels never feared
Beloved was more than the name of a book
Honesty was always valued – and integrity practiced
You could safely take people at face value
You could get a straight answer - to a straight question
And men and women were never insecure
No one was ever insignificant
And politicians were also humanitarians
Wars across the world ceased - and all life valued
Women were respected across the world
And wives were never abused or beaten by their husbands

People really saw beyond colour and racism wasn’t a daily bore
The eradication of poverty was a reality and not just a hope
Equality and diversity were more than policies
And a black boy could walk the streets of London late without fear of attack - or stop and search
Realising your ambitions was free
And education - available to all
Those without parents felt loved ‘none the less’
And all homes had a kitchen large enough to fit a dining table
People could wear what they wanted to work
And the real measure of a man was sort beyond his suit - his shirt and his tie

Women were treated here as they are in developing countries...poorly
And world cultural and personal arrogance was a thing of the past
Milk was free for school children again
And childhood obesity was a word without a home
Schools gave their surplus food to the children most in need
Supermarkets didn’t throw away so much
And pricing was fair
The meek stood up for themselves
And our leaders aspired to greatness
Our streets were not flooded with hard drugs
And children could play outside again
Technology didn’t suppress a child’s creativity
And the joy of making bikes and go carts in the front yard - resurrected

People made their own clothes again
And name brand clothing meant nothing
I could see what you really thought – regardless of the words you spoke
The economy bounced back - cuts were not necesary and there was an equal distribution of wealth
What if...
Everyone was happy
What if...
you felt the pain of another - as your own
What if...
Everyone... was happy
What - If
